Jordan Capacity Building

With the aim of building the capacity of Jordanian Parliament's staff members with regards to reviewing legislation with a critical eye and suggesting amendments, a training on Legislative Drafting was concluded on 21 October, 2010.

The training started in July this year and included distance learning with the International Consortium on Legislative Drafting (ICLAD). Participants acquired advanced skills from an internationally known trainer in the subject; Dr. Mahmoud Sabra.

The training involved building Parliament staff capacity in areas relevant to cost-effect analysis of bills, conducting consultations with experts and stakeholders, comparison of proposed options, and actual drafting of bills. As part of the training the trainees delivered their draft bill projects developed according to previously agreed on subjects.
