Chief librarian of Kenya National Assembly visits Albany

The SUNY Center for International Development recently welcomed Chief Librarian Mrs. Esther Kamau, and Researcher Officer Mr. Kefa Omoti from the Kenya National Assembly for a short study tour in Albany on library systems. The delegation met in late August with the legislative librarian at the State Legislative Library, toured the State Library and University of Albany’s main library, and met with a representative of the State Assembly's research department.

The purpose of this study tour was to learn about the services that libraries provide to their clients, how libraries are resourced and staffed, what rules and procedures govern the library’s service provision, and how a legislative library serves both houses in a bicameral system.
