Kenya Discussion Focuses on Anti-Corruption Efforts
Dr. Fred Matiangi, Chief of Party in Kenya, recently moderated a discussion on the anti-corruption efforts on-going in Kenya.
Panelists at the Feb. 21 roundtable included Rt. Hon. Dr. Vincent Cable, UK Minister for Business, Innovation and Skills; Chairperson of the Finance and Trade Committee of the Kenya National Assembly, Hon. Chris Okemo; British High Commissioner in Kenya, Rob Macaire; and the Director of the Kenya Anti-Corruption Commission, Dr. PLO Lumumba. The discussion was organized by the Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA) and was attended by members of Parliament drawn from both the Kenya Chapter of the African Parliamentarians Against Corruption (APNAC) the Parliamentary Bi-Partisan Caucus Against Corruption, Kenyan Civil Society organizations focal on the fight against corruption, business leaders and other key stakeholders.
In a later correspondence, the British High Commissioner praised SUNY/Kenya’s work with bringing together members of Civil Society and Parliament to discuss policy issues especially in relation to the fight against corruption in Kenya and also efforts in support of the implementation of the new Constitution.
