FBiH Parliament Study Tour to Austrian Parliament
Representatives of both houses of the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH) visited the Austrian Parliament on June 1 - 7, 2014 for a study tour at the Budget Office of the Austrian Parliament.
During this visit several meetings were held with representatives of the Austrian Parliament, political parties, the Court of Auditors of the Republic of Austria, the state Office of Performance Management, the Ministry of Finance, and other institutions involved in the budget cycle.
The informational meetings presented examples of and advice on establishing strong institutions for legislative support, such as the planned Center for Public Finance and Budget within the FBiH Parliament. It was hoped that the trip would provide effective professional support to the working bodies of the FBiH Parliament and enhance its cooperation with the executive branch by increasing the effectiveness of audit reports, as well as improving horizontal and vertical cooperation between these institutions with regard to budget and audit issues.
The study tour was sponsored by Strengthening Governing Institutions and Processes in BiH (SGIP) project, funded by the US Agency for International Development (USAID), and organized as part of the initiative to establish the Center for Public Finance and Budget within the FBiH Parliament.
